Filling The Freezer

Bow season started at the end of September. Heber has been helping his dad out this year sit in the deer blind, patiently waiting for deer to come in to the feeder. Heber even helped to track and gut our first doe this year. She was fairly decent size and should give us some nice summer sausage. She came into the feeder at 7:45 a.m. She was really tough to track as she ran about 150 yards through heavy brush. We could not find her blood trail and were close to giving up when we said a little prayer she would not be wasted and that we could find her. We tried a different path that led us right to where she had collapsed. We learned its much easier to track a deer in the middle of winter instead of the beginning of the season when all of the foliage is still present.
