The Pallet Quilt Rack

If you've been around our house, you know we like to make new things out of old pallets. The project ideas are really endless. From fences and benches to bike racks and rustic wall art we have a little bit of everything. We have a good source of quality free wood pallets too so it works out nice. Here are our two latest pallet projects, a new quilt rack and a shoe rack in the basement for wet or muddy shoes. We got tired of the very simple pine 2-sided quilt rack we have used forever. If you have been blessed with a lot of beautiful quilts (thanks grandma Fuller) your basic quilt rack does not let you display very much. We looked on pinterest and several other sites and didn't really find something we liked that really showed off the quilts, so we designed this pallet oak quilt rack instead. It started out as 2 sections and then we added a center taller section. The spacing really allows better presentation for each quilt. Just a hammer, circular saw, couple hinges, and muscle power are required. Makes a really great room divider and if we attach boards on the backside we have twice the storage room. We used about 2 pallets to make this one. The shoe rack is VERY simple. Just half a pallet then paint or stain any way you want. You can make it look brand new or make it look rustic with some painting and sanding. You could make it look really nice and stick it by the front door so visitors have a place to put their shoes too.
